Not to get all sappy..

but I miss being pregnant. I know, I know, it may sound crazy and ridiculous. It may sound selfish as we have two little healthy bundles but I was only pregnant for a short 26 weeks. I was feeling great, still working and my doctor was sure I would make it to 35 weeks. He said I would be huge and I would feel miserable but he was positive I would be okay. Ha! Little did he know Carter had other plans to enter the world super early. I guess this is what they call post postpartum depression. I don't think I'm depressed but I think about this stuff every day. What would life be like if they were born at 32 weeks or even 35? It was my job to carry these babies and I couldn't even do it. Carter and Luke only had a 70% chance to live. I don't know what went wrong. The doctors didn't know what went wrong but sometimes I just feel so guilty for everything the boys had to go through. Spending 89 days in a hospital is no way to enter the world. They weren't suppose to be given blood transfusions and fed through a tube or use a machine to breath their first breathe. That's not fair to them. Why does God allow these things to happen?

I don't think we will ever know and these questions will remain unanswered forever. Looking back at old pictures, the best part..... the captions I used to save each picture.

Luke's second blood transfusion
All these milestones that meant the absolute world to us. Every moment was followed with thoughts of what if this is his first and last time to open his eyes or what if he never squeezes our finger again. This experience was life changing and when everything seems so great in life, you never think it will be Y O U R family.

We thank God every day for these miracle babies and we are such strong believers in the faith of God. His power to heal is one amazing thing.

Easter

The boys went to church for the first time today and they did so good. Sean held Luke and I held Carter during the whole service; we were quite impressed. This picture doesn't do little Luke any justice!
Auntie Mel gave the boys Easter baskets filled with lots of gifts. Thank you, Thank you..I love 'em!
Luke, once again refused to show a happy face for the camera.

Nana gave the boys the CUTEST little backpacks filled with lots of fun things. The babies are so spoiled already.

P.S. Preparing for "outings" with twins can sometimes take up more time than the actual event itself.
P.P.S. Carter is extremely vocal these days. Every time I try to record him talking, he stops and then just stares at the camera.

Brotherly Love

What can I say?

They love to be together!

When Carter gets hungry, he'll pretty much eat anything!

Daddy Daycare today. Sean took off work to stay home with the boys. When I left this morning at 7am, all the boys were still sound asleep. Thanks for making the coffee, honey! wink, wink.

Bobble head

We had a little amateur photo shoot today in the living room. The boys are growing so much. They're drooling now, smiling a lot more and they're so much more content; very happy babies! Carter is doing really good with holding his head up but Luke is still a little bit of a Bobble-head. The boys get to hang out with Grandma (aka GG, Gorgeous Grandma) everyday at home while Sean and I are at work. We are so thankful for this! I don't know how I would've handled dropping them off somewhere. Not to say I won't have to do that in August but we'll handle that later. The plans for next year are still up in the air but we are on the waiting list for the Child Development Center. We're sitting at #26 and #27 on the list which is not real good because they only take 14 infants, I think.

Today was a wonderful day! Sean mowed the lawn and I played with the boys all day. They napped, I napped..they're such sweet boys. We all took a walk this evening and not only was the weather amazing but our neighborhood is Amazing! It was like Wisteria Lane minus the Desperate Housewives. Everyone was outside, kids playing everywhere, everybody says hello to each other, neighbors taking each other cookies and borrowing eggs. Okay, the cookies and eggs part was a lie but it's really that great. We met another family with kids a couple houses down. What blessings we have to be so happy and healthy.

We are starting to ween the boys off of their swing-sleeping before it's too late, so tonight we put them in their cribs. It's been an hour since we laid them down and so far, so good.

We haven't taken the boys to church yet but we're going to try for Easter Sunday. We still take extreme caution when taking them out so they don't get sick. However, we are getting more and more comfortable with taking them places. We just fear the loud-crying-embarrassing-baby in church. Occasionally, they do feed off of each other; one cries and the other wants to be louder. Things are just so different with two babies and it can be very hard to take them places. We realized that our car seats didn't fit in an upside down high chair at one restaurant and we learned that our stroller is too long for some things (elevators and small waiting rooms especially). This is all such a fun learning experience and very comical at times!

Boys are asleep, Sean's asleep, Harley's asleep, now it's my turn. G' Night!

The boys in Action!

The love their bouncy seats now. They used to just cry and spit up in them but now they will sit in them for long periods of time.

Our first "real" outing..

happened right across the street at the park. The boys enjoyed it until Luke got a little fussy and then Carter just fell asleep in my arms. The boys met the Easter Bunny too. (You'll have to wait to see those pics). All is good at the Coffey house............other than we are solely outta toilet paper. So, I'm off to the grocery store.

"It's Okay Mom"

..before leaving this morning to return to school both boys gave me a little grin when I kissed their foreheads to leave. I guess they were telling me "It's Okay Mom, we'll be alright with Grandma." It brought back so many or maybe too many memories ..and tears.. from leaving them in the hospital. They were so strong then so I know they are much stronger now. It's only 10am and I already miss them.

okay, more later...I gotta go focus on something else.

Poor lil' Luke

First of all, Luke slept for 11 1/2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These boys are taking after their Momma because man, do I love to sleep.

"You ain't cool unless you pee your pants!"
-Adam Sandler (in Billy Madison)
Luke "usually" only cries for three reasons; the normal reasons that a baby cries I should say: dirty, hungry or tired but he's pretty cut in dry which is pretty nice. However, he fooled me yesterday when I went to pick him up. He wasn't fussing or crying..but wide awake. He was sitting in his swing smiling, smiling, smiling. As I went to get him, his back felt really, really hot. Now, this boy sweats in his car seat and he sweats pretty bad when he cries so I figured he was just really warm. Ohhhhh no..this poor little guy filled his diaper (just pee though) so badly that his entire pajamas were soaked, the swing was soaked and underneath the cushion had perspiration! Here's a glimpse of his pj's. Can you see how high it was wet??  He got a bath immediately and then he got a bottle which he waited so patiently for.  He even wanted to try and hold it himself.

Isn't he sweet?

Have a good weekend and GO RANGERS!!
Mom, the sisters and Aunt Susie are all road trippin' to Canton tomorrow..Girls Day! (Sean will be home all day with the babies...but he'll do great. Just dont pull your hair out honey!! )

Watch this little video. It's a Mom blowing her nose. I think I just watched it three times it's so funny!
